| Kat Von D x Too Faced Interlocking Heart Eyeshadow Palette First Look and Swatches from the Better Together Collection |
Let’s talk about the Kat Von D and Too Faced collaboration, shall we? Set to be released on the 26th December (really don’t know why that is), their Better Together Ultimate Eye Collection (£57) includes the limited edition Interlocking Heart Eyeshadow Palette ($65) which is what this post is focused on because you know I only show up for the eyeshadow palettes. I don’t even see anything else. But in case you are interested, the bestsellers that are the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (£19) and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (£16.50) are included in this set too, thus making it the ultimate eye collection. If you subtract the price of the full size mascara and liner from the collection, the palette itself would come to £21.50 which is quite decent. My point is that I think the price is fair given that both Too Faced and Kat Von D are highly respected high end brands and there are some brands that will charge around £57 for an eyeshadow palette (cough *Viseart Natasha Denona Huda Beauty* cough). Let’s get into the eyeshadow palette and don’t forget to let me know what you think down below. I am so intrigued about this collaboration, I think its’s refreshing that two makeup artists and brands are coming together and not another brand-social media star collab. Not that I mind that, I really don’t but it has been a year of vlogger collabs and I would love a break.

In the photo above, taken from Too Faced, the Too Faced side is on the left and the Kat Von D side is on the right. You can see the annotated swatches below, here are the colours and descriptions.
Too Faced side: BFF (matte vanilla), Lovely (matte baby pink), Friendspiration (metallic bronze), Heart of Gold (gold glitter), Power Couple (antique gold glitter), Better Together (plum glitter).
Kat Von D side: Devotion (matte jet black), Yours (matte stone gray), Swoon (metallic scarlet), Darling (metallic pewter), Lovestruck (iridescent peach) and Por Vida (matte white),

The colours look really bold and beautiful. There are 6 shades in each half and are what I expected to be honest. The Too Faced is very pretty and soft and the Kat Von D side is bold but mostly neutral with a striking red. In total, there are 5 mattes which is not too shabby, but all in all, I don’t think the shades pair that well together in all honesty. I really love the dark shadows you see in the middle but the lighter ones especially on the Too Faced section look a little out of place.

I honestly thought with all the previews and teasers they were posting on their respective pages that they might play around with an angel/devil motif and name the Too Faced side positively and give the Kat Von D side shade names like “Damned” and “Bloodshed”. I would probably be more inclined to buy it if they did do that to be honest. It would have been a lot more fun than the names they came up with, they are just so vanilla. I do think it is a good collaboration and I am sure many people will jump at the chance to get this. I am so pleased to see two amazing minds come together on a project like this and hope to see more brand mergers in the future. It is a fantastic concept, I just like my palettes to make a little more sense and a lot of these shades aren’t very flattering on my skin tone.
