Just when we thought that we couldn’t possibly get any more excited about highlighting Huda Kattan, total and utter queen that she is, proves us all wrong by dropping 2 new 3D Highlighter Palettes. There is the Pink Sands Edition for fair to medium skin tones and the Golden Sands Edition for medium to dark skin tones. Although, if the Textured Shadows Palette Rose Gold Edition is anything to go buy these are going to cost a pretty penny. They will be available to purchase mid-April. What is unique about these palettes is that, instead of a typical highlight palette with just several colours to choose from, all these shades are designed to be used together. They compliment each other to create a gorgeous 3D glow on the cheeks. Most of you know I don’t care much for highlighter, I find it emphasises texture and pores but Huda’s palettes are formulated with shea butter and coconut oil for a smooth, seamless, professional and flattering application on all skins.
The 4-step technique to creating this coveted glow, courtesy of Huda Beauty website, is:
1. Prep: Apply Melted Strobe as a base to smooth the skin and amplify the light reflecting pearls.
2. Set: Dab the lightest highlight from cheek to temple to set and bring out the pop.
3. Sculpt: Apply the darker shade under cheekbones to add dimension and shape.
4. Flush: Sweep the rosy highlight on the apples of your cheeks for a healthy glow.
PINK SANDS EDITION (FAIR-MEDIUM)
This is the Pink Sands Edition 3D Highlighter Palette suitable for fair to medium skin. I love the shade names: Capri, Santorini, Azores and Ibiza. All gorgeous sandy destinations that fit with the theme of the palette. These palettes won’t have a mirror from what I have seen and I think that is a mistake. The colours here look very complimentary and I think anyone of any skin tone would be able to use this palette. The idea is that this palette isn’t supposed to be used only for highlighting and that is where the slightly darker shade like Capri and the pinky hued Ibiza will help frame the entire cheekbone. These formulas and colours are designed to create the most flattering highlight so ideally it would be smooth, glossy not glittery and won’t look like a stripe of colour.
GOLDEN SANDS EDITION (MEDIUM-FAIR)
The Golden Sands Edition 3D Highlighter Palette is formulated with medium to dark skin tones in mind, I think I am more drawn to this palette myself. The shade names are Eastern destinations (correct me if I am wrong): Fiji, Seychelles, Tahiti and Zanzibar, and I think Tahiti would be gorgeous over a contour and Zanzibar looks less pink, than Ibiza, and more coral which is my go-to blush shade. To be honest, if you put the word gold or golden in anything I am pretty much guaranteed to buy it. So hopefully if this palette isn’t £50 I will get it. I really love the look of this palette.
SWATCHES
Above you can see swatches of both 3D Highlighter Palettes on a variety of skin tones demonstrating that all colours show up so it really is based on personal preference. I still lean towards the Golden Sands Edition 3D Highlighter Palette for myself and I am keen to hear everyone’s thoughts on this upcoming launch. I can’t wait for everyone’s reviews and posts. I know I am slightly biased, Huda Beauty to me is like Charlotte Tilbury for everyone else. I just find her to be such a gorgeous inspiration and feel like she puts genuine thought and purpose into her products to set them apart from the rest. Please let me know your thoughts on the 3D Highlighter Palettes in the comments below and share your favourite go-to highlighting products of the moment to keep me entertained until mid April. Thank you so much for reading, I appreciate each and every one of you! Of course, don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin’ and my social media links are below. Take care.
