BEAUTY BREAKDOWN | JUNE FAVOURITES AND FAILS | ALITTLEKIRAN

These are the products I have been using in June, not only are they favourites but I have consistently been reaching for them over everything else for the past few weeks; they are that good. I only have one fail this month that I already discussed so we won’t spend too much time on that. To read about why I have been loving these products and for swatches please keep scrolling.

First up is the gorgeous Beauty Bakerie Neapolitan Eyes Cream Palette (£40), the colours in this palette are simply to-die-for. Every shade of warm brown, orange, gold and deep earth topped off with this delicious purple and some stunning shimmery shadows to create the perfect inner corner highlight. I have not been using anything else but this palette. The shadows are soft, minimal fallout, incredibly easy to blend and perform flawlessly on the eye lids. The finger swatches do not do them justice. A great all round palette

Another winner from Beauty Bakerie is their Pink Flour Setting Powder (£19.50). I think this setting powder is amongst the best of the best. One of my top favourites is the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (RRP £18, currently £12.60 on Feel Unique) but this one beats that one too. I got the pink one which I love, it is brightening without leaving a cast and really helps wake up my under eyes on days I skip wearing concealer which is pretty much every day.

Barry M That’s Swell Plumping Lip Gloss (£5) is a fantastic lip product, it provides a slight gloss accompanied with a tingling sensation and a peppermint scent. It doesn’t increase the size of your lips but it does make them look and feel plumper whilst providing hydration. I really enjoy this product, plus the packaging is stunning. The formula is not sticky in the slightest, the wand is long and thin and I would prefer a doe-foot applicator but generally this is one of my favourite lip products because it can be used as a gloss, a balm and a lip plumper
The Miss Baby Roll Mascara (£8) from L’Oreal has been my favourite for months now. There is something about this wand that does magical things to my lashes when applied properly. I have tried so many mascaras and I mean really high end, ridiculous, fancy mascaras and yet this is the one that I always notice on my lashes. It does the most. It is separating, defining, lengthening and volumising, plus it manages to really hold a curl. For best results, I curl my lashes first and apply the mascara over a lash serum I am currently testing out. I wipe off excess mascara first and then slowly work this through my lashes until I am happy with the fullness, length and separation.
Onto the skincare products I have been using non-stop. First is the L’Oreal Skin Perfection Correcting Day Moisturiser (£9.15). It is the perfect consistency, not too thin and not too thick, to be used both day and night. It isn’t sticky but should be allowed a few minutes to properly sink into the skin. It gives an immediate glow and radiance but doesn’t make my skin feel slick or greasy at all. I love using this every day either under primer or straight under makeup. It smells gorgeous and feels beautiful, already I am coming to the end of my pot, I have a few weeks worth left. Luckily, a little goes a long way. I have had the 50ml tub since May and think one pot will last 3 months.
Last but not least is the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (£39.50) this is a cult product. I don’t know a single person who has tried and not loved this mask. For me, it took a little while for me to fully appreciate it and I think that is because it is unlike any other mask I have ever tried. Which happens to be why I love it. It smells of pumpkins which is glorious and makes me pine for autumn. To apply it you paint it on your skin – I use a brush but you can use your fingers – and then you rub it in gently with small circular motions for a few minutes. The texture is abrasive and the point of the mask is to exfoliate and essentially reveal brand new skin. Here is a video below on how to apply it and my thoughts on the product.
You can leave it on between 3-7 minutes and you will experience a tingling sensation. The first few times I tried this I didn’t think it did much but if you really pay attention. My skin instantly looks brighter and healthier after using this. I believe with continued use, maybe once a week, it will make a real difference to not only the appearance of my skin but the texture as well. It is a really cool mask to use and I think all skin types would benefit but especially those with combination skin like mine. I have read some reviews where the mask has caused some irritation so if you have sensitive skin a patch test is definitely advised. You could even ask for a sample as it is a pricey product, the good news is the giant tub will last forever.
Here are swatches of the L’Oreal Moisturiser, Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and the That’s Swell Lip Plumping Gloss from Barry M so you can see what they look like and get an idea of their consistency. For the L’Oreal Moisturiser you only need a pea-sized amount for your whole face and most of your neck as well. I swatched far too much product below. Of course, the That’s Swell Gloss is completely clear so can be layered over other lipsticks if you like.
To finish, my fail of the month has to be the NYX Shine Killer Primer (review here), I don’t want to spend too much time talking about it but rest assured it disappointed the shit out of me. I had high hopes for it but it didn’t control any shine in the slightest or benefit my makeup application or longevity. I have heard the Pore Filler Primer and Angel Veil Primer are both a lot better, but I am reluctant to spend more money on NYX Primers for a while. Please leave your primer recs below.
