Is this real life? Am I actually posting a favourites post on the 1st of the ensuing month. Have I finally got my shit together? Absolutely not, but I felt like doing a favourites post so here we are. I haven’t been wearing much makeup at all recently but do have some products I want to talk about as well as some skincare bits. Usually, I would have a fail in here but I wanted to post a review of the product first before giving it a mention in this post. So please look forward to that if you enjoy people hating on products as much as I do – it saves me money, simply put.
First, is this Allies of Skin Purifying Cleanser and Masque (£38). I am an absolute sucker for a 2-in-1 product of any kind, and the reason it deserves a mention in this post is that it smells divine, has the softest texture of any skin product I have ever tried and can be used both as a cleanser and a masque. I mostly use it as a first-step cleanse, it helps reduce my blackheads and I think it helps minimise the appearance of my pores. It is running out but lasted a decent amount of time.
Next is the Alumier MD Ultimate Boost Serum, I use this on nights where I don’t want my face to feel like it is being ripped off by acids. I really love this, It is suitable for all skin types, comes in cool af packaging where the cap twists up and then the serum is dispensed by a pump which is what I want from all liquid products. It has a gel like consistency and just feels really nice and hydrating on my skin. It helps keep my combination skin balanced. As for the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic (£9.50), as I use a lot of exfoliating and matte products on my skin and usually opt for medium to full coverage foundations, I use this every morning, just a few quick spritzes to keep my face feeling fresh. I use it throughout the day on makeup free days and really enjoy it, my skin doesn’t feel so dehydrated either. You can also buy it as part of this set here*.
An oldie but a definite goodie, the Nars Casino Powder* (£30) is an absolute gem. It is so pretty for anyone with medium/tan skin, it adds a gorgeous warmth and is sheer enough that you can’t overdo it and believe me I pack on the bronzer. I have gained some weight recently so when it comes to adding dimension and shadows to my face I go overboard. Really love this, will probably love it forever, have yet to meet a bronzer I like more and I bought this about three years ago. Applied with a large fluffy brush over and around my contour it softens any harsh lines and adds warmth to my face, it is summer in a powder.
Last but not least, and a product I was previously unimpressed by the Ultra Contour Palette (£8) from Makeup Revolution. I believe their first ever contour palette they released, I have been using this recently as my NYX Contour Palette* is buried somewhere in my moving boxes and I can’t summon the energy to unearth it. Pleasantly surprised by this product and how smooth and soft the powders are, there are two setting powders (a creamy white and a banana shade), faint enough not to leave a cast but pigmented enough to brighten. Three highlighters with varying intensity, the peach highlight is particularly pretty, not too glittery or blinding but soft and flattering. A nice range of cool, warm and deep contouring shades that are all quite pigmented so you need very little, but smooth enough that they blend really well. Not the best contour palette in the world but for the price I actually like it quite a lot.
Thank you for reading, I actually have posts planned for once and I am really excited to get back into blogging. I enjoy it so much, and reading a nice comment can change my entire day so I am looking forward to reconnecting properly with everybody and reading posts, sharing my love for beauty and talking and discussing things that really matter to me as well as sharing my experiences over the past year. Like I have said in past posts, it was a hard year for me, for many reasons and I really want to share my experience with you. Thank you so much for your support. Take care.
What did you get up to in September?
Love ❤
